Family Involvement
& Resources
At Believe in Me, we understand that when a child receives services, the whole family is on the journey too. We’re not just here for your child – we’re here for you, the parents and caregivers.
You’re Not Just Enrolling a Child – You’re Joining a Family
From day one, we strive to create a partnership built on openness, education, and support. This page is all about how we involve families in our program and the resources we provide to empower you. We truly believe that parents are a child’s lifelong teachers, and by working together, we can create the best outcomes for your little one.
Parents as Partners (Open Communication Policy)
At Believe in Me, partnership with families is built on open, ongoing communication and collaboration. While parents are not able to observe sessions on site due to safety and privacy considerations, we make it a priority that you are always informed, involved, and supported. You’ll know your child’s team personally, and you’ll have direct access to the people guiding your child’s care.
Regular support meetings - including parents and the BCBA - provide dedicated time to review progress, discuss challenges, and adjust goals together. Your insight matters deeply. If something is working well at home, or if a concern arises, we want to know so we can support your child consistently across environments. When appropriate, and once a child is enrolled in the program, your BCBA may also provide additional support by consulting in the home to help address specific needs and reinforce strategies.
Day to day, communication remains a top priority. You’ll receive daily written updates from your child’s 1:1 practitioner, and team members are available for check-ins at drop-off and pick-up. If questions or concerns come up, you can reach out directly to your BCBA, your child’s team, or leadership. Families have direct access to Cassandra and Bethany as well—there are no intermediaries or receptionists standing between you and informed, thoughtful answers. We’re all on a first-name basis, and we want you to feel comfortable reaching out whenever you need support or clarity.
Family Education & Training
To empower you at home, we provide regular parent training sessions. These might be one-on-one coaching with your child’s BCBA or group workshops with other parents on common topics. We cover practical strategies like how to handle challenging behaviors at home (e.g., tantrums or picky eating), how to encourage communication and play skills outside of therapy, and how to generalize the progress your child is making at the center to everyday life.
Our goal is to equip you with tools and confidence so you feel like an expert on your own child’s behavior plan. We know it can be intimidating at first, but we approach training with the same compassion and patience we have with the kids. It’s a judgment-free zone, and you can ask any questions. We love hearing from parents that a tip we gave in a training session made their bedtime routine calmer or helped siblings play together more smoothly.
In addition to formal training, we also share learning resources to support families. This includes access to a parent library with books on autism and ABA basics written in parent-friendly language, along with recommended articles, websites, and connections to community resources such as local support groups, advocacy organizations, and recreational programs. As children prepare for school, we support families through the transition by attending IEP meetings, collaborating with school teams, and visiting schools alongside parents when appropriate. We also help families understand next steps and advocate confidently for their child’s needs, sharing the knowledge and connections we’ve built to support them along the way.

Community & Support Events
It’s important to us that families at Believe in Me feel connected, not alone. When you join our program, you also join a community of other parents who “get it.” Throughout the year, we host educational parent seminars and informational events designed to provide meaningful training and guidance. These sessions are led by our clinical team or invited community experts and focus on topics that matter most to families such as communication strategies, behavior support, school transitions, and understanding IEPs. We create opportunities for families to learn, ask questions, and feel confident about the next steps in their child’s journey.
We also occasionally hold parent support group meetings on-site in the evenings. These are informal get-togethers where parents can share their experiences, trade tips, or just vent and laugh about the ups and downs of raising a young child with developmental differences. Our staff will often join in or help facilitate, but it’s really about you supporting each other. Many friendships have formed among our parent community – some families even carpool or set up playdates outside of the center because of the connections made here. Our unofficial motto (“building beautiful friendships”) isn’t just for the kids; it’s for the grown-ups, too. We truly aim to create a family-like atmosphere where everyone feels they belong.
Setting Expectations & Shared Commitments
We believe in being upfront with families about what leads to the best outcomes. One key factor is consistent participation. The therapy techniques we use are most effective when a child attends regularly and the family is reinforcing strategies at home. We ask families to commit to the program schedule – after all, every day is a day of learning and progress. We certainly understand that life happens (illnesses, appointments, etc.), but we do emphasize a minimum attendance policy to make sure your child isn’t missing out on crucial therapy time. When everyone – child, therapists, and family – is present and engaged, we see the best results.
Another expectation is open communication. We promise to be transparent with you, and we ask that you share openly with us too. If your child had a rough night and comes in tired, let us know – we can adjust the day. If something at home is changing (a new baby, moving houses, etc.), that can affect your child, and knowing that context helps us support them better. By sharing information both ways, we create a consistent environment for your child between home and the center.
Lastly, we uphold a standard of mutual respect and empathy. We know parenting a child with special needs can be stressful – we’re here to help, never to judge. In turn, our staff deeply appreciate when families treat them as the professionals and caring humans they are. We’ve been incredibly lucky to have built trusting, positive relationships with our families, and we find that when we all assume the best intentions and work together, challenges can be overcome so much more easily.
Choosing an ABA program is not just about the number of hours of therapy - it’s about finding effective, high-quality care and a support system for your whole family.
At Believe in Me, we focus on thoughtful, individualized therapy delivered with intention and expertise. You never have to walk alone: we’re here to celebrate the good days and problem-solve the hard days with you.
